Clark M. Will playing his rare E solo trumpet
with the back thrust bell that was an important
lead instrument of the Old Aurora Colony Band
(1856-1883). The trumpet maintained the beat or
tempo when there was no drum. The
back thrust bell of the trumpet pointed backwards
to the group marching behind the band could hear
the beat.
